The Lord's Prayer

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."

Jesus opened the model prayer with worship, not petition. Before we bring our needs, we acknowledge who God is — Father, holy, sovereign. This order matters: when our prayers begin with God's greatness, our requests naturally become smaller and more surrendered. "Thy will be done" is the hinge of the whole prayer — it aligns our desires with His purposes rather than asking Him to bless our own agendas.
